Alison Baitz RSS

My name is Alison Baitz and I am a freelance writer currently based in the Mid-Atlantic. I regularly cover fashion and culture for publications, online and print. I also write a column about thrift shopping for Lucky magazine's website.

This is a shortcut to my writing available on the Internet. I update it as pieces are published, but an entire list of my clips is right here.

Want to hire me? Want to send me your lookbook/demo/press release or just say hi? Email me: alisonmbaitz@gmail.com

I’ve had my eye on wildcrafting company Juniper Ridge for over two years now, hoping to translate this interest into some kind of article. Here’s that article! (For the new-and-utterly-gorgeous Modern Farmer.)

Foam was really one of the first magazine websites to give me a chance when I was first really giving freelancing a serious go (starting on a farm in Vermont, go figure.) I’m so thrilled to have my first piece in their print magazine.

Had a right lovely chat with Australian songbird Emma Louise (who, incidentally, from her art studio in Brisbane, is somehow surrounded by actual birds) about her latest album and the transformation she took once she stepped inside the studio.
Please note: This was my first time saying ‘haters’ in a piece, and it felt great.

I got to get drunk to write this, may have found a new calling. On pre-made/kegged cocktails for The Washington Post Express.

Nothing Major is the beautiful new sister site of Pitchfork, focusing on visual culture. I wrote a piece about the outstanding new line RICHARDS––the designer is someone I’ve spotted before––whose prints are just so beyond. Check it.

Because I think Risto is super rad … but some commenters chose to focus on the apparent unease of the model.

It’s not hyperbole to say that I go see a movie about twice a week, so I’m thrilled I could make use of the intel I’ve gathered visiting all of D.C.’s amazing movie houses.
